  HEMA and FMA   Bolo, arnis sticks, anyo, padded stick sparring, and others, are the common things or activities that most people would say it is arnis, or escrima. The arnis is known especially in public schools, in parks where you can see guys practicing martial arts using a stick; these are proofs that arnis is now more popular with the public compared to the decades of the '70s and '80s.   Arnis Paete: A Sense of Historical, Cultural, and Martial Tradition   Together with fellow physical educators as a research team of the College of Sports, Physical Education, and Recreation (CSPEAR) of Cavite State University, we visited an activity of the arnisadores in Paete Laguna, it is related to a fiesta in the barangay (town). It's the second time I've seen it live, I enjoyed watching it.   Basic of Arnis De Mano A Handbook for Teachers and Students          Arnis is declared the Philippines' national martial art and sport as promulgated by the Republic Act 9850. The art of stick fighting, or Arnis, was introduced to the Philippine educational system in the 70s through the initiative of GM Remy A. Presas, called "The Father of Modern Arnis.” Although there was an earlier initiative to incorporate arnis into physical education such as Mr. Lamberto Ticsay's teaching of arnis at one of the universities in Manila in the 60s, it was Presas' initiative that started paving arnis future in the Philippine educational system. Many of his students and recruited physical education teachers carried his system and approach to teaching arnis. His book “Arnis, the Philippine Martial Art of Stick Fighting” published in the 70s became the bible of early arnis teachers in promoting it to their classes.   Arnis Sparring   Sa loob ng higit na 40 taon na pagsasanay ko sa arnis/escrima, naparaming kasama ang nakalaro, nakasali sa mga palaro ng NARAPHIL at Arphi; hanggang ngayon ay marami pa rin ang pagtatalo kung paanong paraan ba dapat ang isang sparring sa arnis. Ilang national sport association na rin ng arnis ang dumaan, at may kanya kanya silang format ng pagsasagawa ng palaro o tournament nito. Nandiyan ang palaro na ang mga audience ay namamangha sa galaw ng mga manlalaro, mayroon din confused kung paano ba nanalo ang isang manlalaro, ito ba’y sa paramihan ng palo o palakasan ng hataw?
