  Basic of Arnis De Mano A Handbook for Teachers and Students          Arnis is declared the Philippines' national martial art and sport as promulgated by the Republic Act 9850. The art of stick fighting, or Arnis, was introduced to the Philippine educational system in the 70s through the initiative of GM Remy A. Presas, called "The Father of Modern Arnis.” Although there was an earlier initiative to incorporate arnis into physical education such as Mr. Lamberto Ticsay's teaching of arnis at one of the universities in Manila in the 60s, it was Presas' initiative that started paving arnis future in the Philippine educational system. Many of his students and recruited physical education teachers carried his system and approach to teaching arnis. His book “Arnis, the Philippine Martial Art of Stick Fighting” published in the 70s became the bible of early arnis teachers in promoting it to their classes.   Arnis Sparring   Sa loob ng higit na 40 taon na pagsasanay ko sa arnis/escrima, naparaming kasama ang nakalaro, nakasali sa mga palaro ng NARAPHIL at Arphi; hanggang ngayon ay marami pa rin ang pagtatalo kung paanong paraan ba dapat ang isang sparring sa arnis.   Cordillera Fighting Arts is FMA?          Taong 2019 bago lumaganap ang sindak ng COVID 19 Pandemic, ang ilan sa mga practitioners ng Filipino Martial Arts (FMA) ay nagisismula ng gumamit ng mga head-axe ng Kalinga, gayundin ay may mga practitioners na sinisimulan gumawa ng replica ng Kala-sag. Sabi ko, teka, may ipapauso na naman ang mga ito ah.
